Stephens is a so-called "spirit-filled" believer, studied at Fuller Seminary, where he came in contact with the 'pseudo-demonist' professor Dr. Charles Kraft. In addition, he was was a deacon and member of John MacArthur's Grace Community Church for almost eleven years, and consequently now draws heavily on the non-dispensational writings of the Puritans.
